Bourgault Industries subsidiary fined $65,000 for worrkplace related accident

An agricultural manufacturing firm in Saskatchewan has been ordered to pay $65, 000 relating to a workplace accident two years ago.

Highline Manufacturing Limited, a subsidiary of Bourgault Industries entered a guilty plea July 22nd in Saskatoon Provincial Court to one violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.

The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 22, 2022, in Vonda, when a worker was seriously injured while flushing highly flammable solvent through an electrostatic paint gun.

Two other charges were withdrawn.

Two people dead following a motorcycle collision on Highway 35

Two people are dead following a motorcycle collision that occurred last night on Highway 35 near Hendon.

Wadena RCMP were alerted of a collision at around 10:30 and responded along with local fire services and EMS.  

Upon an investigation it was determined that a motorcycle collided with a cow on the road.  The driver and passenger were 

declared deceased by EMS at the scene. 

They have been identified as a 45-year-old male from Spalding and a 51-year-old female from Archerwill. Their families have been notified.

Canada's Women's 3x3 Basketball team moves to 2-0 at Paris Games with 21-11 win over China

Team Canada's Women's 3 on 3 Basketball team is on a roll at the Paris Games. 

Earlier today in the second game of the tournament Canada defeated the top ranked China team 21-11.

Humboldt's Paige Crozon and Michelle Plouffe led Canadian scorers with 7 points each. Crozon also had a pair of rebounds and two defensive rebounds.

Canada sits on top of the standings at 2-0. 

On Thursday, Canada will be on the court for a pair of games. First, they meet Germany at 1:30 am local time.

Reid Thompson Public Library Summer Reading Program continues for August

The Reid-Thompson Public Library TD Summer Reading Program has wrapped up the first month of programing with a bang.

The final event for the month of July was a reptile show featuring many different animals. Some of the animals included snakes, turtles, and lizards. The event was highly anticipated and that was evident but the mass of gathered kids on July 30 in Civic Park.

The summer fun doesn't end there, all of August is packed with great events for the kids.  Along with helping to prevent summer slide the events are fun and engaging for children of all ages. 

The Muenster Senior Centre much cooler thanks to Muenster Facitilies Foundation

The Muenster Seniors’ Centre was the beneficiary of a $1500 donation from the Muenster Facilities Foundation, one of the community’s Donor’s Choice options.  

A cheque for the amount was presented to representatives of the Seniors’ Centre Marguerite Cunningham and Cheryl Chapman.  

Local athletes bound for national track and field competition

The next generation of Olympians may well be on the horizon.  

Sarah Loehr and Kaylee Bernhard of Muenster are heading to Royal Canadian Legion Track and Field Nationals in Calgary.  

They were selected for Team Saskatchewan after participating at the Saskatchewan Legion Track and Field Camp in early July. They, and some other area athletes, were sponsored to attend the initial camp by the local Humboldt Legion branch.

Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) fourth annual Big Backyard BioBlitz is back for the August long weekend, encouraging everyone to go outside and document their surrounding nature.
