Farmers Prepare for Potential Insect Threats in 2025 Crop Season
As the 2025 crop season begins, farmers across the prairies are already on high alert for potential insect damage. Dr. Meghan Vankosky, a research scientist in field crop entomology with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, provides insights into what farmers might expect this year based on last year's conditions and winter observations.

Warm and windy conditions on the central prairies are leading to a number of fire bans being issued by rural municipalities.
On May 6, fire bans have been issued in the RM of Bayne and the RM of Viscount.
These join bans that have been issued further to the east in the following RMs:

Humboldt/Lanigan RCMP needs the public’s help in two different cases of theft from the same Humboldt business.
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Humboldt/Lanigan RCMP received and responded to a call of two separate thefts from a business located on 8th Avenue in Humboldt.
On Saturday, March 29th, two females were seen entering The Dollar Store. They walked around the store stashing various items into their bags and then left the store without paying for the items.
Watson welcomes community with free BBQ
It will be a social mixer for the entire community of Watson tonight.
Everyone is invited to attend a meet and greet barbecue at the Civic Centre beginning at 5:30. Citizens will have the chance to meet the town’s council, community clubs and fellow residents.

Voting period and process revealed for potential Conexus, Cornerstone, Synergy Credit Union merger
The proposed merger between Conexus, Cornerstone and Synergy Credit Unions is proceeding with the preparation of the voting period for members. Voting for the recommended “Together for a Thriving Saskatchewan” merger will take place starting June 3 through to June 13, states a joint release from the credit unions.
SHA issues measles alert for Rosthern
An alert has gone out from the Saskatchewan Health Authority warning the public of a risk of measles exposure in Rosthern. This potential for exposure is the result of a confirmed case.
The SHA advises people who were in any of the following locations during the listed time to monitor themselves for symptoms for up to 21 days after exposure.

Carney and Trump spent about two hours together at the White House, including about half an hour in front of the cameras in the Oval Office, and a private luncheon.
Both leaders were accompanied by senior members of their cabinets and their chiefs of staff.
