'Build relationships on both sides': Provinces make push ahead of U.S. election

Provinces are reaching out to Democrats and Republicans alike to make their case for co-operation, bolstering efforts by the federal government to ensure Canada is prepared for any outcome in the upcoming United States election.

"I see provinces and Team Canada both ramping up their efforts," said Laura Dawson, an expert on Canada-U.S. relations and the executive director of the Future Borders Coalition.

Vehicle connected to missing children case found in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan RCMP have located the white Mercedes linked to a missing children's case which began in southern Manitoba earlier this week.

On Friday, Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle at Pine Cree Regional Park, which is located in the Cypress Hills between Shaunavon and Eastend. The abandoned vehicle was a white 2018 Mercedes GLC, and has been determined to be the vehicle previously associated with 55-year-old Astrid Schiller.

Oilers one win away from history after pushing Stanley Cup final to seventh game

If the Edmonton Oilers can show off their trademark resilience just one more time, they will make Stanley Cup history.

Depth forward Warren Foegele had a goal and an assist as the Oilers forced a decisive Game 7 in this year's Cup final with a 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Friday in front of a raucous Rogers Place crowd.

The win moved the Oilers closer to breaking Canada's Cup curse and has Edmonton on the cusp of becoming just the second team to come back from a 3-0 deficit in the final.

The Prairie Crop Disease Monitoring Network (PCDMN) launched its new website at "prairiecropdisease.blogdpot.com.".

The PCDMN is a coordinated field crop disease monitoring program for the Prairies, focusing on providing timely information about crop diseases and highlighting effective disease management strategies.

A remarkable story will unfold on the screen with a globe spanning documentary and a local connection. ‘Las Balsas’ is the story of a trio of teams who defied the odds to prove an anthropological and historical concept. The documentary will screen the evening of Saturday, June 22 and the afternoon of Sunday, June 23.  

‘La Balsas’ chronicles the world’s longest raft expedition which started in Ecuador and followed the Humboldt Current southward in the Atlantic eventually ending in Australia. 

CN rail is reporting strong grain movement in June

CN's Assistant Vice-President of Grain, David Przednowek says they saw strong movement early in June.

"We're about a half million tonnes of processed grain products shipped in week 45, pushing 550,000 tonnes in week 46."

He points out that compared to historical levels, those are both pretty strong weeks. 

Przednowek says going forward into July, he expects to see a slowdown in grain movement as a number of the export terminals and canola processing plants start their maintenance shutdowns.
