Kekatos keeps hitting streak alive despite Beavers' blowout loss

It was a long night for the Weyburn Beavers last night. The visiting Regina Red Sox would score nine runs in the first two innings and just continued to extend the lead, leaving Tom Laing Park with a 21-4 victory. The game was called with two outs in the top of the 9th inning, as rain returned to Weyburn.  

Weyburn overpowers Medicine Hat in dominant performance

“A little bit of everything,” said Weyburn Beavers head coach Cam Williams about what went well in Tuesday night’s game against the Medicine Hat Mavericks. The Beavers racked up 14 hits, while the pitching staff struck out eight as they won 11-3 over the number two team in the East Division at Tom Laing Park.  

Rain, runs, and rescheduled games: Beavers' weekend recap

A weekend of highs, lows, and postponements for the Weyburn Beavers as they played two of their three scheduled games this weekend.  

The weekend started with a game against the Moose Jaw Miller Express Friday night at Tom Laing Park. The Miller Express would hamme starting pitcher Ryan Meyer early, scoring seven runs off him in the first two innings as they went on to a 12-6 victory.  

Controversial call leads to double ejection in heated Beavers game

The Weyburn Beavers would find themselves up by three heading into the seventh inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Moose Jaw Miller Express, but the visitors would rally back, scoring five in the eighth inning to come away with a 10-7 victory.  

The game would see a little bit of everything, from a home run from Moose Jaw first baseman Austin Gurney, the twin brother of Weyburn catcher Robert Gurney, to a balk in the second inning, to a pair of ejections in the fifth inning.  

Weyburn's bats come alive in extra innings, sealing the win

The Weyburn Beavers picked up their second win in a row Wednesday night, but they would need extra innings to come away with the victory in Regina over the Red Sox.  

The Beavers found themselves up 7-1 heading into the 8th inning, but the Red Sox would rally to tie the game, scoring four runs in the eighth, and two more in the ninth to force the extra innings. A big outpouring of offence in the 10th inning would put Weyburn ahead, and they came away with a 12-8 victory.  

Beavers' opening weekend: Impressive performances, unlucky results

This weekend was Opening Weekend for the Western Canadian Baseball League, and the Weyburn Beavers came out with some impressive performances Friday and Saturday at home, even if they didn’t finish on the winning side of the scoreboard.  

Friday night was the home opener, with the defending champion Moose Jaw Miller Express in town. The Beavers would stay with the Miller Express up until the final stages of the game, with Moose Jaw coming away with a 5-3 victory.
