All-Star quartet shines as Beavers top Swift Current

The Weyburn Beavers continued their trek away from Tom Laing Park Monday night with a game in Swift Current against the 57s. While the game was scheduled for nine innings, Mother Nature had other plans, and the game was called after seven innings. The situation didn’t dampen the spirits of the Beavers much, though, as they picked up a 7-4 win, moving to within 2 ½ games of Swift Current for the final playoff spot in the East Division.

Kovanen shines as Beavers secure win

The Weyburn Beavers added another W to the win column Wednesday night, defeating the Regina Red Sox with a final score of 5-3 at Tom Laing Park.

Coming off a victory against the Red Sox Tuesday in Regina, the Beavers aimed to maintain their winning momentum. They succeeded in doing so by capitalizing on key opportunities during the game. The Beavers took an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning, thanks to a double by Tyren Dorrance that cashed in Ryan Dauphinee.

Zimmer shines on the mound as Beavers secure win

The Weyburn Beavers, who entered action Saturday afternoon last in the East Division of the Western Canadian Baseball League, entertained the Okotoks Dawgs at Tom Laing Park. Okotoks came into the game in first place overall in the league.

The Beavers, however, looked like the odds-on favourite in the game, as they handily topped the Dawgs 4-2, snapping a 10-game losing streak.

Beavers in tough at home against Giants

Despite a strong performance on the mound from starting pitcher Angel Rios, the Weyburn Beavers came up short Wednesday night, falling 9-3 to the visiting Fort McMurray Giants.

Rios would come out of the gate strong, with four strikeouts in the first two innings of the game. He would finish up five innings of work with six strikeouts. The 6th inning, though, would prove to be his undoing. He was tagged with six runs, four earned, in the game, including four in the 6th as he was credited with the loss.
