Cocaine, unstamped cigarettes found in early morning Gimli traffic stop
Gimli RCMP officers conducting a routine traffic stop in Riverton at 2 a.m. on April 6 discovered multiple violations, including unstamped cigarettes, open liquor, and suspected cocaine. Local entrepreneur ‘steels’ the show
“When you see a piece that you can tell works really well, it functions well, it does what it’s supposed to do, and it looks really good, you ask who made it. That’s how a lot of people have found out about us,” says Taylor. “It’s good word-of-mouth. It’s building a solid reputation.”
This from Clint Taylor, owner of Portage Iron. Born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Taylor has a great deal of experience in the metal working industry, as well as building companies. So opening Portage Iron in January of 2024 felt like a natural step.

The Conservative caucus has tapped former leader Andrew Scheer to lead the party in the House of Commons when Parliament resumes on May 26 — a role that's needed because Pierre Poilievre lost his seat in last week's election.
"I'll be taking over the parliamentary leadership duties of the caucus until Mr. Poilievre rejoins us in the House," Scheer told reporters after emerging from an all-day caucus meeting on Parliament Hill Tuesday.
