Crews respond to multi-vehicle crash

A crash that seemed to involve two vehicles resulted in emergency crews attending the intersection of 13th Avenue and 6th Street in Estevan before 4:40 p.m. Monday.

There's no immediate word on whether there were any injuries. Estevan Fire Rescue Services, Estevan Police Service, and EMS were on the scene.

There's also no word on the cause of the incident.

Positives in negatives: how COVID-19 test results are trending in Saskatchewan

Fewer and fewer lab tests for COVID-19 are producing positive results in Saskatchewan.

The province's weekly update, delivered Thursday afternoon, included a 3.87-per-cent positivity rate for lab tests (208 confirmed cases in 5,372 tests). That rate was 4 per cent last Thursday, 5.3 per cent in the June 2 update, and above 13 per cent in early March.

Meanwhile, the test-positivity rate for the South East zone of the province rose from 9.1 per cent to 9.6, week over week. The South East was the highest in the province, following by Regina at 7 per cent.

1 pet dies as home suffers 'extensive damage' in weekend blaze

Firefighters rescued one pet but another succumbed to injuries suffered in a house fire Saturday morning in Winnipeg.

Emergency crews were called at 7:14 a.m. to reports of a fire at a bungalow in the 800 block of Laxdal Road.

The City of Winnipeg says in a release that the fire was already well involved when crews arrived. Firefighters did their best to extinguish the fire from inside the building but they were quickly forced outside due to safety concerns.

Water spout spotted, tornado watch issued Saturday

People in Manitoba's Interlake and parts of Central Plains and the Parkland are being warned to keep an eye on the sky Saturday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued tornado watches for regions north of Winnipeg, including Arborg, Hecla, Fisher River, Gypsumville, and Ashern. Areas on the west side of Lake Manitoba have also been placed under a tornado watch, including Ste. Rose, McCreary, Alonsa, and Gladstone.

11-year-old also shot at Red River Ex: police

The Winnipeg Police Service says it's been made aware of a second gunshot victim at the Red River Ex on Monday evening.

The WPS says in a release that an 11-year-old boy who was unknown to the parties involved in the shooting was with his mother and in close proximity when the shooting occurred. They say that a bullet struck the victim in his lower body.

Police describe the scene as "chaos" and the boy's mother "got him to safety and immediately transported him to hospital."

The boy was treated for a gunshot wound and they police were notified on June 21.

Tornado watches issued in western Manitoba

Enviornent Canada has issued tornado watches for a large portion of western Manitoba Sunday afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms are forecast to form in an unstable airmass centred over the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border this afternoon, some of which have the potential to produce tornadoes. Strong gusty winds, heavy rain, and large hail will also accompany any severe thunderstorms that form.

This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.

State of emergency extended due to flooding in Whiteshell

A state of local emergency is being extended in Manitoba's southeast due to extensive flooding and "potentially hazardous conditions."

The Manitoba government says in a release that Manitoba Environment, Climate and Parks has declared a continuation of the state of local emergency in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

"Despite improving conditions on the Winnipeg River and many lakes and streams, unusually high water levels continue to cause potentially hazardous conditions in some areas of the park, posing a significant risk to public safety," the release says.
