“A very enjoyable experience”, local man on his short-lived, tractor-flipping fame

Back in November, Steinbach's Trev Esau accidentally flipped a tractor in his garage, caught the whole thing on camera, and went viral online. 

Esau started the tractor before realizing the clutch was broken. In the process of ‘jamming the clutch’ from reverse to forward trying to find neutral, the tractor took off. The handle of Esau’s floor jack acted as a ramp and the whole thing tipped backward with Esau holding onto the steering wheel, laughing hysterically.  

RCMP provide tips as package thefts increase during the holiday season

With many people shopping online for Christmas gifts, RCMP say they are seeing a significant increase in reports of package theft. 

Constable Dennis Redekop says this is an ongoing issue, but it is always more pervasive during the holiday season. He has some tips to keep your parcels safe. 

Highway 75 should fully reopen before winter, according to Province

The Province of Manitoba has provided an update regarding the Highway 75 construction project. 

Back in May, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure or, MTI, began a major concrete reconstruction project on a 24.5-kilometre stretch of southbound Highway 75 between Ste. Agathe and Morris. This was a project that was first announced late last year.

Providence partners with Canadian North Airlines to train Inuit pilots

Providence University College is partnering with Canadian North Airlines to create a unique Inuit pilot training program. 

As a 100 percent Inuit-owned airline, Canadian North is committed to supporting Inuit and Indigenous economic self-reliance by providing career opportunities within the aviation industry.  

On Thursday, Canadian North and Providence University College announced a partnership that will help fulfill this goal by training Inuit students to become pilots.

We've seen a resurgence of respiratory viruses this winter, but the worst of the season should now be behind us. 

Dr. Peter Benoit is a public health doctor who is currently providing coverage for Southern Health. He says a number of illnesses are currently circulating southern Manitoba.
