Incredible turnout for Provincial Cross Country at Dixon
Well over 1000 athletes, coaches, parents and volunteers gathered in the hills north of Dixon for this year’s SHSAA Cross Country Provincial Meet hosted by the Carlton Trail Ski Club.
It certainly isn’t the first time the trails have seen action as a cross-country venue, but its central location, challenging features, and volunteer support have made it one of the premier running courses for high school events.

Official City of Humboldt Municipal Election Candidate Nomination List
On Wednesday, October 9, the nomination process of the 2024 City of Humboldt Municipal Election officially closed. As per Section 76 of Local Government Election Act, 2015, all candidates nominated had until October 10th at 4:00pm (24 hours after the close of nominations) to withdraw his or her nomination by filing with the returning officer a written statement to that effect. No withdrawals were received.
Chamber of Commerce planning to host a pair of election forums
The Humboldt & District Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce two upcoming All Candidates Forums, providing an opportunity for community members to engage with candidates in both provincial and municipal elections
The Chamber will host a Provincial Candidate Forum on Thursday, October 17 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Humboldt Legion Hall.

Increased police presence near Whitewood following armed robbery
RCMP reported an increased police presence in the area of Whitewood on the Number 1 Highway.
RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery in the vicinity of the community two hours east of Regina. Police advised that there are two suspects. They may be armed and should be considered dangerous.
Vehicle rollover results in multiple drug and weapons charges
A vehicle rollover near Lemberg resulted in a major drug and firearms bust on October 4.
Melville RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 22 west of Lemberg.
An investigation determined that the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle by court order for which he was arrested.
Last chance to enter your name as a candidate for mayor or councillor
Today is the final day for anyone to enter their name as a candidate for either mayor or councillor.
Candidates have until 4:00 pm to hand in their nomination forms.
Thursday is the final day for any candidate to withdraw their name from consideration from either mayor or councillor.
Civic elections in Saskatchewan will be held on Wednesday, November 13.
Gallery members share inspiration at opening reception
The always anticipated Gallery Members Show and Sale has opened for another year at the Humboldt and District Gallery. The show highlights the work of Gallery member artists in a wide variety of media. There are portraits, landscapes, abstracts, nature studies, photos, fabrics and many more creative treats for the eyes.
The exhibition opened last week with the members’ reception last Saturday, October 5.
Book on Exploring Cultural Intelligence lauched at the Gallery
Wilburn Sargunaraj, world traveller, musician, and now author, made a return to Humboldt for his book launch. Exploring CQ (an abbreviation for cultural intelligence) is Wilbur’s creation that interprets the framework of exploring elements of cultural intelligence by telling stories of his own encounters.
