Saskatchewan rural economic development supported with new funding agreement
The Saskatchewan government announced a new funding agreement with Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance to support rural investment readiness. The provincial government will provide $225,000 as a part of the agreement.
Senior Safety Symposium will focus on health and personal safety
Safe Communities Humboldt & Area, along with numerous regional agencies will be presenting a Senior Safety Symposium to Humboldt and area residents on October 10 at Caleb Village. The Senior Symposium will give seniors valuable information on several safety topics delivered by qualified professionals.
Presentation topics will include preventing falls and getting up from a fall, fraud prevention, medication reviews and flu/covid vaccines, wills, and warning signs of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Guided walking tour of Original Humboldt this Thursday
Original Humboldt, located 8 km west of Humboldt just off Highway 5, has a wealth of stories, many of which have been unearthed by archeological digs and preservation of its artifacts and history.
Humboldt and area residents have a wonderful opportunity to explore the site on a guided tour happening on Thursday evening, September 12.

Take a step back in time to experience the wonder of old-world artistry.
The Humboldt and District Museum is hosting a Heritage Skills Revival Demonstration of Wool Spinning with Patricia Clarke.
The event takes place at the Museum of Saturday, September 13 from 10:00 am to noon.
Tornado Hunter sifts out science from Hollywood hype
Wild weather buffs got a treat on Saturday with a special screening of the summer blockbuster Twisters, along with a video presentation and talk by real life Tornado Hunter, Greg Johnson. Johnson made appearances at both the 2 pm and 7 pm screenings at Reel Attractions.
Meal in the Field with the Arnst Family
The Week 3 winners of the 2024 Harvest Edition of Meal in the Field were Brandon Arnst and his family from the Leroy/Jansen area.
Arnst said the family farm began operation with his grandpa during the 40’s. The terrain has evolved with the bush being removed over the years.
Along with his father, Brandon operates the farm with his sister and brother-in-law.
Level crossing repairs upcoming on Highway 2
Motorists heading on Highway 2 north of the Highway 5 junction need to be prepared for another detour coming on Thursday, September 12.
CN will be upgrading the crossing on Highway 2 north of the Highways 2 and 5 junction on September 12 to smooth out what has been a slow zone crossing on the north Highway detour to Saskatoon.
Repair and paving are scheduled to begin at 7:00 am and should be wrapped up by 7 pm the same day.
