HCAA District Track and Field results- Ten new records
The results are in from the HCAA Track & Field District Championship held on Tuesday, May 28 at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex in Saskatoon.
Almost 700 athletes took part in 5 age groups. The combined school finishes as of Tuesday have HCI in top spot with Wynyard Comp taking second and Strasbourg tallying third.
Ten new marks were established, with Holdfast’s Hailee Woodhouse leading the way with four new records.
Broncos families continue to contest government responsibility in bus crash
The Government of Saskatchewan was named in a lawsuit revolving around the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash, and lawyers for a group of families are in court to make sure the province remains named in the suit.
The claim, made by five Broncos families involved in the suit, is that the government knew that the intersection where the crash occurred had sightline problems, but the province failed to do anything about it.
Update: Remains identified in Canora case
The human remains discovered on Railway Avenue in Canora have been identified as William Neuman, who was reported missing to Canora RCMP on December 20, 2023.
His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

RCMP need help in case of stolen side by side
Humboldt/Lanigan R.C.M.P. are asking for the public’s assistance regarding a theft of a side by side in the Village of Muenster.
Sometime between May 12-19, 2024, a maroon Polaris Ranger XP 1000 UTV or “side by side” was stolen from a back alley on Main Crescent in Muenster. The matter is still under investigation by the Humboldt and Lanigan RCMP detachments.

Latest scams involve fake Sask Traffic Safety Bureau texts
Saskatchewan RCMP is alerting the public to reports of text scams where individuals falsely identify themselves as the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Bureau. The text message states that the person contacted has been captured speeding in a designated school zone. It says the person must click a link in order for them to avoid attending court.
Deportation hearing for Humboldt Bus Crash truck driver expected to be short
In a report by the Canadian Press, a lawyer for the truck driver who caused the deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash says he expects a deportation hearing today to be short because the rules are clear with little flexibility.
Jaskirat Singh Sidhu was sentenced to eight years in prison for the 2018 crash and was granted full parole last year.
Conversation on herbal tea brewing at the Museum
Lovers of herbal teas will have a special opportunity on Saturday morning, May 25, when Marie Saretsky arrives to talk all things tea at the Humboldt and District Museum.
