Spring brings around track and field season, and that means the SOLE-stice Classic Regional Track and Field Meet. This year’s event is set up for May 26 at Glenn Hall Park in Humboldt. Online registration must be completed by May 22.  

The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and many people will be hitting the road this long weekend as we celebrate the unofficial start of summer.

This week is also Canada Road Safety Week. Saskatchewan RCMP, as well as other police services and government agencies across the country, will be working to encourage safe driving practices. The campaign focuses on eliminating impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and driving without a seatbelt.

The Humboldt and District Museum announced that the University of Saskatchewan Archaeology Field School has chosen Original Humboldt for an archaeological dig this summer. 

Saskatchewan’s teachers will be taking another vote today and tomorrow (May 15 and 16) to determine the path future actions may take in the continuing reach for a new contract.  

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation will seek a mandate from teachers to carry on with sanctions into the coming school year, given that the current mandate for sanctions expires on June 30.  

Due to an extended power outage yesterday, the Village of Muenster is under a precautionary drinking water advisory.  

Residents are advised to boil all water to be consumed at a rolling boil for one minute. This includes activities where water may be ingested such as brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, food or drink that will not subsequently be heated, and ice cubes.  

May 8 and 9 saw dozens of students gather at the Humboldt Uniplex for the annual PARTY program, hosted by Safe Communities Humboldt. PARTY stands for Prevent Alcohol Related Trauma in Youth, and Grades 9 to 12 students from Humboldt and surrounding schools were able to take part.  

Throughout the program, students were able to sit in on numerous speakers and participate in mock crash scenarios and follow the paths of trauma victims and first responders to experience a tragic narrative that often unfolded in real time. 

Improvements to the power system have SaskPower preparing for a planned power outage for customers in Muenster on Monday, May 13

Humboldt RCMP seeks the public's help in identifying a shoplifter who struck a business in Humboldt.

On the evening of April 30, 2024, a local business situated on the 1900 block of 8 Avenue in Humboldt was struck by a shoplifter who stole nearly $400 worth of high-end men’s cologne. Police are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the person of interest pictured. 

Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation President Samantha Becotte says provincial Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill’s remarks during a teacher vote on a proposed contract amounts to interference.  

Today is the final day for teachers to vote on a contract offer that provides for modest salary increases, but one that does not seal concerns about classroom size and complexity into the contract.  

A proactive traffic stop of a vehicle with a muddy license plate in Kinistino led to the apprehension of a wanted criminal.  

At approximately 10:30 a.m., an officer from Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan was conducting patrols in Kinistino, SK. They observed a vehicle with a license plate that was unreadable as it was covered in mud. They conducted a traffic stop.
