Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover last Thursday, leading to an occupant of the car being charged with multiple weapons offences.

Police say they received a call about the incident on Highway 26 at Road 34 West in the RM of Portage la Prairie on November 16 at 11:40 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, three vehicle occupants were located from Ontario and British Columbia. The two men in the vehicle appeared visibly intoxicated and were treated for minor injuries. The driver, who was a woman, was not intoxicated, nor was she physically injured in the collision.

According to police, when the vehicle was searched, ammunition was found, which led to the arrest of three individuals.

When a 42-year-old from East York, Ontario, was searched, two handguns were found concealed in his possession. The ammunition found matched one of the firearms.

The two other individuals were released without charge. However, Todd McGarragle is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon x2, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2, Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition Without Licence, and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

McGarragle remains in custody, and the collision's cause is still under investigation.
