The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Colts football team held their annual year-end banquet at the school on Wednesday night.

Head Coach Derek Murdoch and the rest of his staff handed out awards to the top players of the season and celebrated their 11 graduating players including quarterback Elijah Siemens, who was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year.

“It feels good to be able to do this and having all the boys around, it was a really fun group to be with this year,” Siemens said. “Growing up with all these players, understanding the game and learning how it works... I feel like I’ve just gotten a lot better.”

Another graduating player, Tristan Letkeman, was named the Colts’ Defensive Player of the Year.

“It feels awesome, I mean, all the hard work paying off. It’s definitely worth it to see it come full circle,” he said. “I think I’ve grown a great deal and I think I owe it all to the amazing coaches we have here.”
