LISTEN: Rush burning midnight oil in Vancouver
The Saskatchewan Rush are back on the west-coast Friday night, playing another all-Canadian matchup against the Vancouver Warriors after picking up two wins last weekend.
Last Friday the Rush went to Calgary and defeated the Roughnecks 16-13, following up that performance with a 17-9 win over the Rochester Knighthawks at home Saturday.
Busy weekend for Broncos on home ice
Two big WHL East Division games for the Swift Current Broncos as they host the Regina Pats tonight and Brandon Wheat Kings tomorrow.
"We know they're both division games," said Broncos rookie defenceman Daxon Yerex. "Big points that we can grab. Brandon being ahead of us in the standings so that's big points we can grab. Regina we still can't look past them."
Swift Current is coming into the weekend having lost three of their last four games.
Wickenheiser supports Canadian 4 Nations Win
A local hockey legend was loudly supporting Team Canada during the 4 Nationals Face-Off.
Shaunavon native Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser tweeted her support for Canada as they took on the United-States in the new tournament's championship game.
"Signed. Sealed. Delivered!! (Way to Go) Boys! Great game," Wickenheiser wrote on X.
La Verendrye School girls' basketball team claims championship in undefeated season
The La Verendrye School (LVS) girls' basketball team celebrated an exciting victory in their season finale, securing the championship with a dominant 64-37 win over École Arthur Meighen. The win capped off an undefeated season for the team, a remarkable achievement that left both players and coaches with pride.
Head coach Samantha Turner reflected on the success, saying,
"It was very exciting. All three of us coaches are so proud of the girls. It was the best basketball they've played all season. They had a great attitude and didn't give up the entire game."
A battle of thoroughbreds as Broncos and Mustangs rivalry heats up
One of the top rivalries in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) is back on the ice tonight as the Humboldt Broncos head to Melfort to meet the Mustangs.
The teams will finish off their season series tomorrow in Humboldt.
Melfort is the lone SJHL squad the Broncos have been unable to register a victory against this season. The Mustangs swept the previous home-and-home set back in December.
PREVIEW – Warriors ready for rematch with Raiders
LAST GAME… Prince Albert scored three in the first period and another four in the third and handed the Warriors an 8-2 loss Monday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Landen McFadden and Lynden Lakovic had one goal each for the Warriors, Ethan Semeniuk picked up two assists, and Josh Banini made 32 saves. The duo of Daxon Rudolph and Justice Christensen led the Raiders as they combined for three goals and nine points. Moose Jaw was 1-for-2 on the power play and 0-for-1 on the penalty kill.
Notakeu Hockey League playoffs resume
The second round of the Notakeu Hockey League playoffs start tonight.
Mossbank hosts Assiniboia and Yellow Grass is home to Avonlea.
Assiniboia won both games in the season series with the Blades.
Both games start at 8pm.
Game 2 between the Rebels and Blades isn't until Tuesday night in Assiniboia.
Elks ready for provincials on Local Sports Live

They start provincials this weekend while still in the midst of the Sask Valley Hockey League playoffs.
Cougars aim to clinch series in game two against Morris
The Carman Cougars went into the playoffs on a hot streak and the good times have continued with the group grabbing 1-0 series lead over Morris with game two looming on Friday night.
U13 AA Wildcats beat Lynx to end regular season
Finnley Cubaty earned the shutout as the Swift Current Female U13 AA Wildcats beat Lumsden Bethune 2-0 last night to close out their regular season schedule.
Allie Roberts and Makenna Fox had the goals.
The Wildcats end the season at 4-22, while the Lynx are 3-18-3.
The two clubs will now start a best-of-three playoff series next week.
