The City of Swift Current is upping the price for municipal golfers.
Chinook Golf Course has a great 2023 but will be a tad more expensive after Swift Current city council approved an average rate increase of 7 - 10 per cent.
Presenting the matter to city council was the General Manager of Community Services, Nicole Spenst.
"The Chinook Golf Course caters to beginners, intermediate, and advanced golfers as does all municipal golf courses in the province," said Spenst. "The Chinook Golf Course also significantly impacts tourism and the economic welfare of the region."
The rates at Chinook are reviewed and approved annually by city council.
These newest rates are comparable to several provincial courses of similar quality.
The hope is that these increased rates will provide monetary support to continue the upkeep of the course, holding it to a consistent standard of quality and playability.
"By reasonable increases to golf in the community, the Chinook Golf Course will continue to be a destination for recreation for all ages," said Spenst. "From the beginner to the expert, providing fun, affordable, outdoor pursuits by all our citizens.
City council approved the rate increases, setting Chinook up for another great year of tee-offs and putting greens.
