The Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit continues to investigate the attempted murder of a 27-year-old female victim, which occurred over a significant period at a residence on Carlton Street on December 10.
Police had sent out a release searching for two of the suspects. Police now says that on December 26, 35-year-old Joey Michael Audy of Winnipeg turned himself in to police where he was placed under arrest on the strength of the warrant in his name for Attempt to Commit Murder, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats, Robbery, and Forcible Confinement.
He remains in police custody.
The Sex Crimes Unit thanks the public and the media for their continued assistance during their investigation.
The Winnipeg Police Service continues to request public assistance in locating 40-year-old, Evelyn McKay and asks the public to immediately contact 911 if they have information concerning her whereabouts. She remains outstanding on an arrest warrant obtained by the WPS Sex Crimes Unit for Robbery and Forcible Confinement:
Anyone with information is asked to call 911, Sex Crimes Unit investigators at 204-986-6245, Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477), or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
Police allege that McKay and Audy were involved in an assault of a 27-year-old woman on December 10, which saw the suspect bound and assaulted for "a significant period of time."
It was further reported to WPS investigators that the suspects eventually forced the female, who was still restrained, into a dumpster, where she was abandoned. Her screams for help were heard when she was assisted and freed.
