Alphonse Ewald Thimm
February 1, 1935 – December 24, 2023
With sadness in their hearts, the family of Alphonse Thimm announces that he peacefully passed away on December 24, 2023, surrounded by family. He was 88 years of age. Alphonse was born to Bruno and Maria (née Wunderlich) Thimm on February 1, 1935, in a farmhouse in the Bruno District, SK. He attended Hoffman School until Grade 8, when he decided to help on the farm full time. At 19, Alphonse went to Cold Lake, AB, to work construction for a year, then returned to Bruno, SK, and worked at the local lumberyard for a couple of years. Alphonse met the love of his life, Myrna Weiman, at a barn dance held in her dad’s barn. The two fell in love and were married on October 22, 1958. The day after, they moved to the Thimm Family Farm, one mile west of his birthplace, raised their four children, and worked side-by-side on their mixed farming operation for the next 25 years. In 1983, they moved to their current home in Bruno and continued farming for 12 more years. Even though he retired from farming his own land, Alphonse continued his passion by helping his neighbour for several years. When Alphonse wasn’t busy farming, he enjoyed camping and fishing, going to the cabin at Wakaw Lake, socializing with friends and family, and following his grandchildren’s various activities. Alphonse was a gentle, kind, humble and hardworking man who was most proud of the family that he and Myrna raised. His most cherished times were those he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was supportive of everything they did and was a role model like no other. Alphonse passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023, surrounded by family.
