Lois was born on August 11, 1939 to Elmer and Elsie (nee Prange) Mensching at Lanigan. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Lanigan. Being a family of all daughters, Lois was the one who helped her dad on the farm during those years. Lois married Maurice Phillips in 1956 and they raised their 3 children while living in Davidson and then Saskatoon. She remarried to Arnold Cherry in 1971; becoming the parents of a blended family in Thompson, MB. Here she learned how to sew and became a marvelous seamstress over the years. Along with Arnold they were active members in the community and Church. They enjoyed getting together with family and friends, visiting, and playing cards. Lois worked as a dietary cook in the Fillmore Hospital and then became a Home Health Aide until her retirement. Following Arnold’s death, Lois moved in 2011 to The Carlton in Lanigan where she was able to spend more time with her daughter and her sisters. Needing more care, she moved to Central Parkland Lodge in 2018.
