The Estevan Police Service reported dealing with 96 occurrences over the holiday weekend (from December 22 to the morning of December 27).

Here is the list:

On December 22, 2023 police attended to the same apartment building in the south end of the city to reports of loud music and individuals creating unnecessary noise three times.  Initially the property owner was warned under the bylaw.  Police had to return two more occasions.  The property owner was issued two tickets under the bylaw amounting to $750.00 in fines.  The property owner was also arrested and lodged in cells for the evening.

Police then attended the same evening to an apartment building in the north end of the city to a report of loud Christmas music.  The property owner was warned under the bylaw.

Police received a report of a dispute between two parties that could be heard over the phone by a third party.  Police were advised that the dispute was going on in a vehicle that was being driven around.  Police located the vehicle and ended up transporting one of the parties to connect them to other services in the community.  Through mediation, the matter was resolved.

Police received a report of theft of property.  The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of an historic assault that had occurred in Estevan.  The matter was reported to another police service and was forwarded to Estevan to be investigated.

Police received a report of mischief to property.  The victim’s vehicle had been damaged by spray paint.  The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report of theft from a local business.  A 38-year-old Estevan male was subsequently arrested for the theft and has been charged and released for court.

Police were called to a city core apartment building to a report of a dispute and property being damaged.  Police attended and spoke to the parties.  One of the parties had left for the evening.

Police received a report of uttering threats.  Upon attempting to investigate the matter, the complainant became uncooperative.  Police made extra patrols in the area of the complainant's residence to assist in their security.

Police received a report of mischief to property.  A tenant in a local apartment building was reported to be tampering with the utilities.  The matter is still under investigation.

Police arrested a 39-year-old male for breaching his conditions by being in a liquor establishment.  Upon arrest, the male was found in possession of meth and subsequently charged and released for court.

Police received a complaint in relation to a train engine parked running, disturbing nearby residents.  The train company was contacted and the complainant was also given the contact number for the train company to lodge a complaint with them as well.

Police received a report of a vehicle being driven on the ball diamonds south of the city.  Police attended and determined it wasn’t on the diamonds but in the parking lot.  The vehicle was not located however the public is encouraged to continue to report these matters.

Police received a report of an assault.  Police attended and spoke to the parties involved.  The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a request to assist in locating a 17-year-old youth.  The individual was located and in contact with his family.  Police were no longer required.

Police received a report of a suspicious male near a business in the east end.  Police made patrols and later located and identified the male.  He was sent on his way.

Police attended to a loud stereo complaint in an apartment building in the north end of the city.  The property owner was warned and complied with turning the stereo down.

Police were called to a residence in the west end of the city for a disturbance.  Police attended and spoke to the two parties living there and mediated a resolution.  They didn’t need any other services available.

Police attended to a disturbance in the 1200 block of 4th Street.  Both parties involved in the dispute were arrested.  A 44-year-old Estevan male was charged with mischief to property. The 21-year-old male was initially held in custody for breaching his Conditional Sentence Order.

Police received a report of an assault.  Police attended and initially arrested a 28-year-old Estevan female for assault and outstanding warrants.  She was later released for court.

Police arrested a 39-year-old Estevan male for breaching his conditions of no contact.  He was later released for court.

Police received a report from a responsible business indicating an individual was in their store buying iTunes and gift cards several days in a row.  Police spoke to the individual and the individual is being scammed.  Police remind the public that if you are being asked to prepay for items or services with gift cards the transaction is a scam.
