Florence Susan Schreiner (née Albers)
June 4, 1920 – December 29, 2023

With great sadness the family of Florence S. Schreiner announces her passing on December 29, 2023, at the St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, Saskatchewan. She was 103 years of age. Florence Susan Schreiner was born June 4, 1920, to Bernard and Gertrude (née Weber) Albers. She was the sixth child of nine and was raised on a farm three miles northwest of Marysburg, SK. After her schooling she worked as a hired girl for various neighbours until she married Jacob Schreiner on October 8, 1941, at Assumption Church, Marysburg, SK. The couple mixed farmed southwest of Moseley, SK, for many years. Florence always had a huge garden which included lots of raspberries and there were cows to be milked, the cream and any excess produce was then sold. She had three children, Evelyn, David, and Richard. In 1974, Florence and Jacob semi-retired and moved to Humboldt, SK. She worked for Home Care for a few years, then in the laundry at St. Mary’s Villa until her retirement. Florence lived independently in her house until she moved to St. Mary’s Villa in March 2020. In the summers she enjoyed gardening and keeping the lawn neatly trimmed and free of leaves. She made sure there were no weeds in her garden or lawn. In winter she spent her time doing puzzles, playing cards, and making afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching many TV programs including the Mass and Holy Rosary, game shows, and curling. Her house was continually kept clean and spotless, and she loved having visitors; they were always served various foods and were encouraged to have lots of cakes, cookies, tea, coffee, and sometimes wine. Florence will be lovingly remembered by: her 3 children: Evelyn Bohun and family: Chris (Brenda) Bohun, and Lucinda (Arron) Taylor; David Schreiner and family: Denise (Matthew) Toeckes, and Darryl (Lonna) Schreiner; and Rick (Florence) Schreiner and family: Lori Newberry, Brad (Jaime) Schreiner, and Bryan (Cheryl) Schreiner; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister Jean Schreiner; sister-in-law Bernie Albers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her parents; 7 siblings; husband of 56 years Jacob; daughter-in-law Elaine Schreiner; and son-in-law David Bohun. A Prayer Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., with Janice Dobmeier, presiding; and Denise and Matthew Toeckes, scripture readers.
