Moose Jaw’s Scott Benson band recently discovered that one of their original songs was used in a trailer for an anime on Disney+ Japan.

Scott Benson Band members include Scott Benson, Jared Robinson, Jared Dormer, Cam Church, and Andrew Fath, and over the years they have produced many original songs and cover songs.

Scott Benson says that while a company in Los Angeles works to place their music, they don’t often hear from them. They learned by happenstance that their song, Iomann, was used. “Someone commented on one of our videos that they’d seen it, so we went and checked it out, and sure enough, it was used to promote a 2-minute trailer for the new show called Phoenix: Eden17,” says Benson.

The science fiction anime was released by the streaming platform on September 13th, 2023. You can see the trailer featuring the band's music below.

“It makes you feel like the world’s a little smaller when you’re marketing your stuff, but we’re so excited it’s getting used on the global market,” says Robinson.

This isn’t the first success for the band. Their Lux Aeterna cover from the ‘Requiem for a Dream’ movie has been double gold-certified in Europe – currently approaching diamond status on the continent. They say it’s received almost 50 million Premium streams through Spotify and Apple Music, and just over a billion non-premium streams.

“We’re just a group of friends that are putting music out, enjoying spending the time making music together, and it’s great when something actually takes off,” says Robinson.

In 2023 the band released a cover of Time from the movie ‘Inception’, and they also did a cover of Reflection from the movie ‘Mulan’. They’re looking forward to working on more original music in 2024.

You can find the Scott Benson Band on Spotify, Apple Music, Facebook, and YouTube.
