ULMER, Jay Frederick

Jay was born in July of 1958 in Imperial, SK and died peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the age of 65 years.

Jay lived with his family on their farm until August 1966, when he moved into the former Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw, SK. Prior to the closure of Valley View Centre in 2019, Jay successfully transitioned into a Group Home in Regina in May 2019. There he enjoyed attending Community events and activities. Jay’s life was well lived in his own quiet way.

He made an impact on everybody he met with his calming presence. Jay enjoyed van rides, Roughrider games, and anything with a nice meal! He always gave advice you did not ask for by offering an "uh huh, uh huh, uh huh". Jay enjoyed music and would stomp his feet and clap his hands to the beat. He also loved apple pie and Coca-Cola, which he thought was a great way to bring people together.

Jay was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Hazel Ulmer. He will be missed by his family and all of the friends who supported him throughout his life, not only when he resided in Valley View Centre, but also when he later transitioned into Clare Parker Homes. Jay made friends wherever he went and will be missed.

A Celebration of Jay’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Imperial Cemetery alongside his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clare Parker Homes, as they helped Jay live his life to the fullest. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
