Benedict Lohmann
June 2, 1933 – January 24, 2024
Ben Lohmann, 90 yrs, of Middle Lake Sk, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024 surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Ben remained jovial and kept his sharp wit right up to the end.
Ben was born on June 2, 1933, the 5th of 6 children to Anna and Henry Lohmann. He grew up in the Willmont area near Fulda Sk. He loved playing the bass in olde tyme music bands and going to dances. In 1957 he married Evelyn Stolz and they had their daughter, Yvonne, in 1958. He worked various jobs, but spent the majority of his working years with Dairy Producers in Saskatoon. Most weekends were spent camping, fishing, traveling to see family, and playing many games of Kaiser. In Retirement he moved back to the Humboldt area. He enjoyed horses and drove his teams, even well into his 80’s. Even after he moved to Bethany Village, he continued to keep busy feeding the wildlife and cutting and selling wood to the campers at Lucien Lake
Ben was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn; son-in-law, Lee; sisters, Francis, Rika (Heinrika), Verny (Veranda); and brother, Elmer. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Antonuk (Terry Gallant); grandchildren, Jennifer Petersen (Layne), Kevin Adair (Michelle), Merissa Pool (Joey), Kodi Weigel (Carl); and great grandchildren, Conner (Raven), Keegan, Hunter, Mickayla, William, Benjamin, Mackenzie, and Marshall. He is also survived by his sister, Erma (Ermalinda); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ben will be remembered for his sense of humour, infectious laugh, and kind nature. He will be truly missed.
A Prayer Service was held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home & Crematorium, led by Bev Trach. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Interment will follow in St. Augustine Parish Cemetery at a later date.
