POITRAS

Olive Ethel Poitras (née: Herrick) aged 93 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, after a brief illness.

Olive was born on October 31st, 1930 to Lillian (née: Fahy) and Russel Herrick in Climax, SK. She grew up in Shaunavon, SK alongside her six siblings.

While working for the Wheat Pool in Winnipeg, MB in 1954, Olive met the love of her life, Laurent Joseph Poitras. They were married the following year and spent the next 68 wonderful years together. They raised two children and created many great memories along the way.

Olive was a spiritual woman with strong convictions. Her door was always open, and she welcomed anyone with open arms. She had a way of making all feel loved and cared for, but also let you know when you needed to be held accountable. Her sense of humour was second to none, right to the end.

Olive’s strong faith led her to hold many positions within the church. There she met many close friends that became family. Her family and friends were always very important to her. They were always on her mind and in her prayers.

She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings: Alice (Bert), Ralph, Mae (Bill), Steven (Doreen), and Jim. Olive is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Michelle (Randy); son, Jon (Lisa); sister, Elsie (Murray); grandchildren: Keith (Jolee), Ryan, Jonathan, Dwight, and Chad (Amanda); great-grandchildren:

Dahlia (Kameron), Suri, Rhett, Bria, and Jayden; great-great-granddaughter, Parker Olive; sisters-in-law: Inez, Fay, and Rachel; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for the amazing care Olive received in her final days, and to her close friends that were there for her and our family.

The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 4th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Melvin Bartley will officiate and interment will take place at a later date. An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

May the rain fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
