HUNTER
Joan Pavier-Hunter passed peacefully into the arms of her Saviour on Sunday, February 4th, 2024. Joan was born April 20th, 1932, in the Courval/Mossbank, SK district, the youngest of four children born to Lena and Helmer Haug. She chose teaching as a career and taught at Kalamazoo, Elkhead and Mortlach, SK, a life she thoroughly enjoyed. Joan married Bill Pavier in 1952 and became a farm wife, later returning to teaching until her retirement, a second time. They were blessed with four children - Dale, Bev, Hazel, and Kevin. Spending time with family and friends was one of her greatest joys. Joan had many camping trips with friends and annual camping weekends with the extended family. She loved to travel and experience life and learn from people in other parts of the world, “rubbing shoulders” with them was always exciting to Joan.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Bill Pavier; parents, Helmer and Lena (Hentges) Haug; brothers: Hilman and wife Vera, Lorry and wife Elsie; sister, Doris and husband Gordon Bishop and husband Ralph Christenson; in-laws: William and Alice (Dick) Pavier; sister, Effie and husband Joe Ward; and sister, Janet Pavier. Joan is survived by her husband, Del Hunter; son, Dale and Leslie Pavier, grandchildren: Brock (Jen) and their children Jack, Ella, and Bronwyn, Rachelle (Joel) and their children Braxton and Aveya; daughter, Bev and Duncan McIntyre, grandchildren: Kelsey and her children, Finley, Thea, Millie and Jasper, Pearce (Kineshia), Janae; daughter, Hazel and Phil Tempel; son, Kevin and Marilyn Pavier, grandchildren: Amanda (Colby) and their children, Ross, Chloe and Emerick, Des (Kaylee) and their children, Beckett, Rowan, and Charlie. She is also survived by her chosen son, Begna Shone; many nieces and nephews; her stepfamily: Trish and her children Josh (Brittany) and their child Teagan, Adam, Courtney, Drew and Noah, and Sharilyn (Stan) McCracken; as well as Del’s brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery.
