Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Northwestern Ontario.
A heat event will begin on Friday afternoon and continue through Sunday into Sunday night. Maximum temperatures: 29 to 32 degrees Celsius with humidex values in the low to mid thirties. Minimum temperatures: above 18 Celsius.
A cold front will move southward across the region Sunday, bringing relief from the heat.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and people working or exercising outdoors.
Residents are reminded to drink plenty of water, do their best to stay cool and check on older family, friends and neighbours to ensure they are staying safe.
