The City of Moose Jaw is raising awareness for safe driving practices around work zones in the city. A part of this push for awareness is the addition of a $150 fine for those who fail to detour around work zones.

The spring construction season is fast approaching, bringing road closures and detours, and the importance of safe driving is paramount.

“It is important, it's the safety of our employees. It's also about the safety of the residents, especially at night, you don’t know what’s behind those barriers. So, we are asking everyone driving, if there’s a road closed sign you have to obey it, please go around.” said Moose Jaw City Manager, Maryse Carmichael.

She goes on to say, “It’s a reality that we have to close roads once in a while ... we prepare, we plan ahead so that we don't impose any bigger restrictions than we need to for the residents, so we are asking the residents do their part ... to ensure we are safe.”
