With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Eleanor Jean McKenzie. Eleanor was born on the family farm north of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 12, 1951, and passed on February 18, 2024 in Ridgeway, Ontario.
She attended a small rural one room school until it closed and was then bused to school in Moose Jaw, where she completed elementary and secondary school. Eleanor completed her degree in Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan and started her nursing career in Moose Jaw. She moved to Victoria, B.C. and completed her Master degree in Vancouver. She then taught nursing at Camosun College until retirement.
Eleanor’s mother moved to Victoria, there she received companionship and loving care from her daughter until her passing. When Eleanor retired, she moved to Ridgeway, Ontario to be closer to her sister Elaine. She pursued her hobby of sewing, as well as travelling in Europe and Asia.
Eleanor was pre-deceased by her parents Forbes and Gladys McKenzie, her brother Kenneth and niece Kathryn.
She will be sadly missed by her sister Elaine McKenzie, who was her lifelong friend, and the rest of the family Kenneth’s wife Carolyn, son Robert (Cora) and his son Alexander. Deceased niece Kathryn Murray, her Children Jillian, Forbes (Megan) and their children Abigail and Elsie. Niece Jennifer (David Messner) and their children Jesse and Jacob. Brother Gary (Marjorie) and their sons Curtis and Ross (Kendall) and their children Monroe and Cedric.
