The first-degree murder trial with Greg Fertuck charged in the death of his estranged wife Sheree, who went missing, has now ended. She was last seen leaving her farmyard east of Kenaston in December of 2015, and then her truck, keys, coat and a cell phone were found at a local gravel pit near Kenaston where she worked.
After many stops and starts to the trial for various reasons including the pandemic, whether evidence from a Mr. Big sting should be admissible and Fertuck deciding to represent himself, closing arguments were heard today (Mon) from the defence, which would be Mr. Fertuck himself, and from the Crown. It is now down to Saskatoon King’s Bench Justice Richard Danyliuk to make his decision on the verdict, which will be delivered on June 14th.
Greg Fertuck was charged in June of 2019 to first degree murder and indignity to a body. The trial was originally scheduled to begin in March of 2021, so over three years later, Fertuck will learn his fate.
