On Monday, February 26, at around 5:40 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a firearm being discharged at a business located in the 1200 block of Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie.

Officers arrived and learned that two men entered the store and began arguing with a third man already inside.

The two suspects then exited the store and one of them discharged a firearm into the door.

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

No injuries were reported.

Patrols were made in the area, but the suspects were not located.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers from the Headingley RCMP Detachment received a report of a possible impaired driver located in the ditch off of Provincial Road 248 in Elie.

Officers located the vehicle, now stuck in the snow along the rail line. They approached the vehicle and observed the male driver and lone occupant slumped over the steering wheel.

The driver was awakened and placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance. During a search, officers located numerous .22 calibre rounds of ammunition in his possession.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a loaded sawed-off shotgun and the seizure of several cases of alcoholic beverages.

The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen out of Winnipeg.

The investigation has uncovered that this 20-year-old man was one of the two suspects involved in the shooting at the store in Portage la Prairie as well as a shoplifting complaint in Langruth, where the alcoholic beverage was stolen from.

Tyrone Bone, 20, of Winnipeg, was remanded into custody.

Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
