On March 16, 2024, at about 1:00 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver, on Lorne Avenue, in Portage la Prairie. The vehicle license plate was checked and found to be associated with a stolen vehicle out of Winnipeg.
Officers began patrolling the area but did not locate the vehicle. At approximately 1:55 p.m., a second report was received, advising the vehicle was parked on Oak Bay, in Portage la Prairie. The vehicle was located parked at that location and the lone occupant, an adult female, was arrested without incident.
A search of the vehicle and her person resulted in the seizure of two knives, brass knuckles, identification belonging to someone else, and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Dana Dueck, 27, has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Identity Fraud
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x3
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of fentanyl
- Fail to Comply x3
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Drive Without Licence (Highway Traffic Act)
She was remanded into custody.
