With spring break less than a week away, Winnipeg Richardson International Airport will be filled with those heading all around the world.
"Spring break is usually one of our peak periods of travel throughout the entire year, similar numbers to what we see around the holidays and in the summer," Winnipeg Airport Authority Communications Manager, Michel Rosset says.
Rosset says they are expecting the number of people going through will be high leading up to spring break.
"A lot of people look to take off on the Friday, the Saturday, or the Sunday before the official spring break week and following returning home after the long weekend."
To save the stress from travelling as much as possible, Rosset shares a few tips. "The big thing right now is that we're advising travelers to plan before they leave home. It really all starts when you're starting to pack your bag and finalize your itinerary for your trip."
Also, drive-up parking limited Rosset shared. There are several options when it comes to finding a spot to park and many will be at capacity. Rosset says pre-booking online is certainly a good idea.
He also shares some tips to remember while packing for the trip. "Double-check what you're putting in your carry-on, what you're putting into your checked bag, can go there. Don't forget that liquids, gels, and aerosols in your carry-on need to be contained to 100 millilitres or less and fit in that clear, resealable one-litre bag."
When you're ready to head out the door, Rosset shares how important it is to leave earlier rather than later. "Give yourself plenty of time to get to your check-in counters, get to your boarding gate, clear security. We recommend arriving at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight."
