Robert Wayne Kavalench
September 26, 1955 – December 9, 2023
With heavy hearts, we share the unexpected passing of Robert Wayne Kavalench, 68, who departed in his sleep on December 9th 2023, following a day filled with love spent alongside his daughters Sasha and Vanessa and his wife Cathy.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Cathy “Kates” (nee Ochitwa), and his children: Shayne (Marlee), Sasha and Vanessa. In addition to his children, Bob was a proud grandfather to Shayne’s children Ayden, Carson, Cabrie and Jack. Bob held a profound love for family, finding joy and fulfillment in the strong bonds shared with each child and grandchild. Bob will also be greatly missed by Cathy’s children Todd (Kaly) and Tanya (Chad); as well as their children Taylor, Nixon and Emma. Bob’s heart also carried the enduring memory of his son Clancy, who left us too soon as a young adult. Bob is predeceased by his sister Debbie, whose memory lingers as a cherished part of his life journey. Bob is also survived by his three adult siblings, Bonnie (Kelvin), Dave (Phyllis) and Spike (Linda).
Robert treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, embodying a love that knew no difference. Robert’s door was always open, and his home served as a gathering place for the entire extended family.
Bob went to school in Watson before travelling to BC and then Calgary and eventually back home to Watson to start and finish a career in carpentry. Bob had built up his own business of Kavada Builders before having his son Shayne join him to form SRK Construction. Bob was so proud of all his kids, grandkids and his entire family. He worried quietly about us, laughed boisterously with us, and always had a warm hug to welcome us. He taught us many life lessons about the importance of family, resilience, and the value of hard work.
Bob and Cathy both recently retired and continued to enjoy every minute in their piece of paradise at “Kavalench Estates.” There was nothing Bob liked better than having family and friends join them for golf, a swim in their pool or hot tub and finishing the evening in the screen room for “Bob’s Request hour”.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bob’s laughter, legendary stories and unbelievable escapades will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society or charitable organization of your choice in lieu of flowers. A Celebration of Robert’s Life Journey was held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from Watson Civic Centre.
