The following is the RCMP report to March 20, 2024. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.
- 13 traffic violations
- 3 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)
- 2 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)
- 12 crimes against property
- 1 other criminal code
- 1 crimes against persons
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks. RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks. You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check.
Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.
Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.
Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.
YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS
Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.
March 13, 2024
Police received a report of defamatory libel in Killarney. Police advised the complainant to block the subjects and police will speak with subjects.
March 14, 2024
Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Belmont.
Police did a wellbeing check in Cartwright. Everyone located safe.
Police received a report of the grandparent scam in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The complainant received the scam phone call and suspect hung up after she gave them a complex question regarding her grandchild. No money was lost. Reported for information.
Police received a report of a vehicle speeding by busses in Deloraine at the end of the day. The matter is under investigation.
March 15, 2024
RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle in Killarney. The owner left the vehicle running and went to do some business and when they returned the vehicle was gone and it was seen heading northbound on Broadway. Members immediately started patrolling in the area and surrounding areas outside of Killarney. Neighboring detachments were made aware. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of a marketplace fraud in Deloraine. Matter is being investigated.
Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act in Killarney.
Police received a 911 call of a possible impaired driver or person in medical distress. A black Chevy Yukon was driving all over the road and in the ditch. Patrols were made and there was no sign of the suspect vehicle.
March 16, 2024
911 call, police responded to a suspicious person outside of the residence on Cavers Street in Deloraine. An unknown female was trying to "break into their house". The unknown female looked like she had been assaulted. Ambulance was dispatched, on scene female was known to police and identified. She had suffered minor injuries. The female was unable to tell police what happened. The female was transported by ambulance to Deloraine Hospital. Attempts were made to speak with the female at her residence, but she would not speak to police.
Police received a 911 call regarding a matter under the Mental Health Act.
March 17, 2024
Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act.
March 18, 2024
Police received a report of a stolen vehicle overnight in Ninette. The matter is under investigation.
March 19, 2024
Police received a report of a vehicle fire at 7:17 a.m. in the RM of Argyle. The vehicle was discovered to be a stolen vehicle out of Glenboro. The matter is under investigation.
At 7:50 a.m. police received a report of a stolen vehicle from Pamela Beach.
Police were dispatched to another vehicle fire in the RM of Argyle which turned out to be the stolen vehicle from Pamela Beach. These matters are under investigation.
March 20,2024
Police received a 911 call regarding mischief in Cartwright. The matter was resolved.
RCMP received a call to report two missing Heifers, approximately two years of age that has been missing from the yard in the Boissevain-Morton area. Cattle missing sometime between November 8th, 2023, and January 10th, 2024. Unknown where they are if they have been stolen or strayed off somewhere. No evidence of suspicious activity or thefts in the area. Police referred the complainant to the Animal Care Line to be referred to an Animal Protection Officer who might be able to assist in locating these cattle.
911 domestic disturbance call in Boissevain. Police attended. Both parties spoken with. No violence, no threats and no injuries. One party went to another residence allowing both parties to calm down.
Police received a report of harassing communications in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.
Reminder: It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.
