After the graduation ceremony at Crescent Point Place on Saturday morning, followed by the Grand March in the afernoon, the Weyburn Comprehensive School Class of 2025 took the show on the road with a relatively new tradition - the Grad Parade.

Mayor Funk praises cultural celebration as Summer in the City begins

Steinbach’s summer street festival is officially underway as Summer in the City takes over Main Street for a weekend full of music, food, fun, and community connection. 

The celebration launched Friday morning with the Steinbach Credit Union pancake breakfast, marking the start of a three-day festival that runs through to Sunday — which also happens to be Father’s Day.

Fun events for Father's Day weekend in the southwest!

Father’s Day weekend is filled with great events for your whole family in Swift Current and southwest Saskatchewan.

Here’s just a few of the big events going on this weekend:

Hazlet Sports Days

The beautiful community of Hazlet is celebrating their sports days this weekend. Events for Saturday include a pancake breakfast, the Lions’ Parade and a kids’ carnival, with a Father’s Day supper wrapping up the weekend at Hazlet Regional Park.

Help send kids to summer camp with Chance 2 Camp

Burgers and hot dogs for a good cause were on the menu for lunch last Friday, thanks to the Child and Family Services Foundation’s annual Chance 2 Camp fundraiser. For Community Support Coordinator Sara Martens, this cause is dear: “...growing up, camp was always very important to me.” Martens shared. “That’s just where I connected with the peers of my age...and just learned a lot.”

Dream team: Volunteers build 50 beds so kids can sleep tight

Fifty more children in Winnipeg will have a bed to call their own thanks to the efforts of Manitoba Blue Cross and local non-profit Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP).

According to a press release, Manitoba Blue Cross employee volunteers gathered at Blue Cross Park for the second year in a row to build 50 beds for children who don't have one.

New album 'Edge of the Earth' from Aysanabee is on Made in Manitoba

Made in Manitoba's weekly spotlight continues tonight with a return visit from Aysanabee, who is giving us an early listen to his brand new album that's only coming out June 20th. It's called "Edge of the Earth", and was a different musical journey and creative experience for the two-time Juno award winner.

His first album "Watin" focused on sharing the stories of his late grandfather, his second was "Here and Now" and he describes it as a break-up album.

ECS grad ceremony to impact Affinity Place parking on Saturday

The parking lot at Affinity Place will be reserved this Saturday, June 14, for attendees of the Estevan Comprehensive School graduation ceremony.

Organizers are asking the public to respect barricades and parking volunteers. Access to the lot will be limited to those with ECS grad tickets, which must be presented upon entry.

Doors to Affinity Place open at 12:30 p.m., with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The parking lot will reopen to the general public once the ceremony begins.

Local businesses and organization team up for surprise donation to Mending Little Hearts

Today, E. Bourassa and Sons and Napa Auto Parts teamed up for the Napa Tool and Equipment Event, and part of the event was a fundraising barbeque being put on by The Weyburn Young Fellows. 

While many residents ate their burgers, they were not aware where the funds from this barbecue would be going, as it was a surprise for one of their team members at NAPA. 

John Howard Society looking for help to ‘Get the Story Out’ ahead of Father’s Day

The John Howard Society of Manitoba is asking for help to help families with incarcerated parents connect with their loved ones this Father’s Day through their Get the Story Out campaign. The campaign, run by the society’s literacy department, allows for parents in correctional facilities to record themselves reading to their children.
