Marty Raymond Peru, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2024, with his wife Laurie by his side. Marty was born November 6, 1958 in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. The first of four children to Myrna and Marcel Peru of Neville, Saskatchewan.
Marty leaves to cherish in his memory, his loving wife of 40 years, Laurie Peru; his two children Cale, Kyla (Landon) Reimer; his granddaughters Ross and Wells; his siblings Janice (Doug) Smith, Richard (Carrie) Peru, Kerry (Diane) Peru; brother and sister in law Keith and Judy Best, brother in law Kelly Nelson; nieces and nephews, Landin Smith (Emilee), Jayna McDonald (Matt), Chantel Andrews, Jared Peru, Joel Peru (Anh), Carter Peru (Katie), Taylor Peru (Terren), Kalven Nelson, Ellie Nelson; great niece and nephew Ellie and Burke.
Marty was predeceased by his parents Marcel and Myrna Peru; his mother-in-law Berle Best; sister-in-law Rena Best.
Marty graduated from Swift Current Comprehensive High School in 1976. He spent three years studying Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, and worked as a summer student at the Agriculture Canada Research Station in Swift Current. Once finished university Marty acquired a permanent position at the Research Station. During this time, he met the love of his life Laurie Best and they were married in Swift Current on June 11, 1983. Together they pursued their life-long dream of farming and ranching on Marty’s grandparents’ homestead.
Marty enjoyed welding, fabricating, woodworking, fishing, running, was an avid marathon runner and cherished supporting his granddaughter’s activities.
Marty generously served his community by actively serving with such volunteer organizations as, Meals on Wheels, Friends of Cypress and volunteered for the Neville Fire Department as a fire fighter. More recently Marty became a member of the Knights of Columbus and took great pride in their mission.
Marty was a kind gentle soul with a big sense of humour who radiated positive energy everywhere he went. He was a family man and will be sorely missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
