Della Lorette Bollefer (née Massé)
January 16, 1942 - March 24, 2024
Della Lorette Bollefer (née Massé) was born January 16, 1942, at home in St. Brieux and spent most of her adolescence and teen years sewing, dancing, cooking, and supporting her family. Della’s mother, Bertha (née Danielson) Massé (i.e. Grandma Dynamite) and father, Henri Massé, had 7 children, Bernadette (predeceased 2018), Della, Raymond (predeceased 2019), Darlene, Denise, Violet, and Angeline. After high school, Della enrolled in Saskatoon Teachers College and attained her Teacher’s Certificate in 1960. Later, in 1962, she married Elmer Edward Walter Bollefer (predeceased 1994). Della and Elmer met in Verndale while Della was teaching in the one room schoolhouse and worked for two years prior to becoming a fulltime farmer and growing her family, where she cared for the farm, all the livestock and workers on it. She was also a caretaker for her mothers and fathers, and an active member in her grandchildren’s lives. Della’s life was built on faith, a factor evident in the difficult times, as well as her everyday life as she raised her children and was involved in many facets of the Lutheran Church. Della was beloved by many and will be remembered as a feisty firecracker, always ready to laugh, and lend a helping hand. Della will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by: her four children: Wendy (Paul), Lois, Dean (Monique), and Ruth (Aaron); eight grandchildren: Zachariah, Scott, Jesse, Eric, Ondraya, Mackenzie, Shanleigh and Thomas; and three great grandchildren: Sloan, Millie, and Parker. The Funeral Service was held at Faith Lutheran Church, Middle Lake, SK, on Monday April 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Clint Magnus as presider. Others taking part were: Shanleigh McKeown, Mackenzie McKeown and Monique Bollefer, scripture readers; Angie Wehage, Dean Bollefer, and Ruth McKeown, eulogists; Wendy Bollefer, honorary pallbearer; and Lois Swanson, Dean Bollefer, Ruth McKeown, Scott Bollefer, Eric Bollefer, and Thomas Bollefer, urn bearers. Interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Middle Lake, SK. Memorial donations may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church (P.O.
