The following is the RCMP report to April 4, 2024. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.
- 40 traffic violations
- 10 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)
- 12 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)
- 8 crimes against property
- 3 other criminal code
- 5 crimes against persons
- 2 Traffic accidents
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks. RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks. You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check.
Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.
Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.
Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.
YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS
Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.
March 21,2024
Police received a call regarding an abandoned vehicle in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. The vehicle was not abandoned, and the matter was resolved.
Police received a report of suspicious person in Belmont. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of lasers being aimed at an aircraft while flying over Killarney. The aircraft was fine, and the matter was concluded.
March 22,2024
Police received a report of fraud in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The complainant received an email from Bell/MTS stating his email was hacked and the password needed to be reset. When clicking on the link to reset the password, the scammers got access to the computer and were able to access bank accounts. Police followed up with the complainant and provided direction. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Police responded to a call for an abandoned vehicle in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police determined the vehicle was not abandoned and the matter was concluded.
Police responded to a 911 call for an unwanted person in a residence in Killarney. Upon arrival, police spoke with all parties at the residence, and it was determined there was nothing criminal in nature occurring.
Police responded to a wellbeing check in Boissevain. All parties were located safe.
March 23,2024
Police received a report of a break and enter to a business in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. Members attended however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Police received a call under the child welfare act in Killarney. The situation was not a police matter however police provided information for additional resources the complainant could contact for further assistance.
March 24,2024
Police responded to a 911 call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. Upon arrival, police spoke with both parties and the situation had de-escalated. Everyone was separated for the night and the matter was concluded.
Police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle stuck in the ditch in the RM of Grasslands. Upon arrival, police determined the vehicle was stuck in the snow and ice. A tow truck was called, and the driver was picked up by a friend.
Police responded to a wellbeing check in the RM of Grasslands. Everyone was located safe.
March 25,2024
Police received a report of harassing communications in Ninette. Police spoke with the complainant and referred the matter to a corresponding detachment.
March 26,2024
Police received a 911 call under the mental health act in Margaret. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. Members followed up with both the complainant the suspect and the matter was resolved.
March 27,2024
Police responded to a motor vehicle collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police received a call regarding a vehicle that drove through the customs port. The vehicle returned to the port without police assistance.
Police received a report of a fraud in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. The complainant had an item posted for sale and the suspect in contact was attempting to get the complainant to access a website which appeared to be a scam website. No money was lost. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Police responded to a call under the 911 act for a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, it was determined police were not needed and the caller was having issues with their phone.
March 28,2024
Police received a call under the mental health act in Hartney. After further investigation, it was determined the situation was not a police matter.
Police responded to a call under the 911 act for a 911 hang up call in Killarney. Upon arrival, police spoke with all parties in the home and determined everyone was okay and police were not needed.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Killarney. A male was arrested and released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date.
Police responded to a 911 hang up call in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. Police followed up with the caller and it was determined police was not required.
Police responded to another 911 hang up call in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. Police were unable to connect with the caller after several attempts of calling them back.
Police responded to a 911 call for police assistance in Killarney. A female was struggling to breathe and was transported to the hospital.
March 30,2024
Police completed a curfew check in Killarney. The male was not home as required by his release order. The matter is under investigation.
April 1,2024
Police responded to a 911 call for a damaged, abandoned vehicle in Baldur. Upon arrival members contacted a towing company and were able to speak with the registered owner. The matter was concluded.
April 2,2024
Police responded to a 911 call for a suspicious person in Killarney. Police attended the residence however the person was gone upon arrival. Patrols were made, and the caller was directed to call back if the person returned.
Police responded to a 911 call for mischief in Killarney. Police attended but the person was gone upon arrival.
Police received a report of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Police received a report of sextortion in Deloraine. Police followed up with the complainant and directed them with additional options moving forward to assist with the situation. There was insufficient evidence for police to proceed.
Police received a report of harassing communications in Boissevain. Members followed up with all parties involved and the file was concluded.
Police received a report under the child welfare act in Killarney. Members spoke with the complainant and provided additional contact information as the situation was not a police matter.
Police received a report of fraud in Killarney. The complainant was contacted and advised their identity was being used for money laundering and was directed to send pre-paid gift cards as well as send money to a digital wallet. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Police received a report of a break and enter to a farm in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police attended and spoke with the complainant. The matter is under investigation.
Police responded to a wellbeing check in Deloraine. Members spoke with the complainant and the matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of an assault in Margaret. The matter is under investigation.
Police responded to a 911 call in Killarney. Upon arrival, police located a female that was having trouble breathing and needed EMS assistance. Police also located a male that was on conditions not to have contact with the female in the house. The male was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. The complainant declined to proceed further with the investigation.
