Clarence John Vossen
April 7, 1931 – April 14, 2024
The death of Clarence John Vossen of Caleb Village, Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was 93 years of age. Clarence was born on April 7, 1931, to Fred and Anna (nee Wessling) Vossen. He grew up on the Vossen homestead northeast of Watson, SK, and attended Iron Springs School. Clarence married Delphine (nee Lauer) Kuznitsoff on January 6, 1973. They made their home on the Vossen homestead in the Spalding district until 2001 when they moved into Humboldt. Together they enjoyed playing cards and visiting with their neighbours. Clarence was devoted to his farm life and his cattle. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed endless amounts of books and newspapers. A very caring person, he was known to always lend a helping hand to his neighbours when needed. Clarence adored and cherished his nieces and nephews and really enjoyed it when they came to visit him on the farm. In addition, he loved going on road trips throughout the province with his step-son Lyle, and checking on the harvest with his nephew Leo. He also went along with Robb to work and got to ride in the “Big Trucks”. Clarence was a part of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for more than 30 years. He became a wonderful caregiver to Delphine when she became ill. After Delphine’s passing on June 30, 2016, he moved to Caleb Village where he made many special friends and enjoyed music and dancing. Clarence will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his step-son, Lyle Kuznitsoff; daughter-in-law, Kathy Franko and family, Darren Kuznitsoff, Christie (Robb) Plamondon and sons Caleb and Kyle Plamondon; sisters: Frieda Beallie, Mary Seier, and Hilda Dirkson; sister-in-law, Liz Vossen; members of Delphine’s family; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Delphine (nee Lauer) (Kuznitsoff) Vossen; step-son, Lorne Kuznitsoff; parents, Fred and Anna (nee Wessling) Vossen; sisters: Ella (Peter) Thacyk, Louise (Eric) Gorray, Ida (Keld Rasmussen) (Roger) Yakimenko, and Gladys (Frank) Zerr; brothers: Leo (in infancy), Oscar (Lillian) Vossen, and Martin Vossen; brothers-in-law: Ron Beallie, Gary Seier, and George Dirkson; and by members of Delphine’s family. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Others taking part were: Caleb Plamondon, crossbearer; Lisa Eggerman and Becky Tremblay, scripture readers; Dori Nordick, responsorial psalm; Kathy Franko and Christie Plamonon, intentions; Joanne Binsfeld and Bob Thacyk, giftbearers; Darren Kuznitsoff, eulogist; and Kyle Plamondon, urnbearer. Music ministry was provided by director Loretta Schugmann, pianist Carol Esler, and members of the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence’s friends and neighbours. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation – General Equipment Fund (P.O.
