Therese Anne Schemenauer
September 30, 1928 – May 11, 2024
Therese was born on September 30, 1928 to Quirin and Martha (nee Skalicky) Puetz. She obtained her education at the Marysburg School. On October 24, 1950.
Therese married Edward “Bud” Schemenauer. The transition from leaving home went rather smoothly: she just moved down the road two miles north to her new home. Therese and Buddy were childhood friends and neighbors and continued that beautiful relationship for 40 years. They were blessed with four children: Ruth, JoAnne, Catherine and Brian.
Therese’s true love was family and taking care of them with the greatest of love. She took the title of “Domestic Engineer” to the highest level. Therese enjoyed everything on the farm from helping Buddy with the animals, chickens and fieldwork to a manicured yard filled with beautiful vegetables and flowers, especially purple petunias. Her culinary skills were above and beyond especially her “Long Johns and Braided Easter Bread with icing and coconut”, these treats will always be in the hearts of her children. She loved to help make apple pies, dill pickles, sauerkraut and her homemade noodles. Also baking bread, buns, and delicious ginger snap cookies. Therese passed these skills to her children and then to her grandchildren. She always enjoyed helping all of them prepare their produce for the winter months. She enjoyed ceramics, quilting, crocheting, including rugs and curling. Therese enjoyed watching the Blue Jays ball games and curling. She always found time to volunteer and was a member of the CWL in Marysburg and Legion Auxiliary in Humboldt. Therese so loved her casino trips with her friend Fronie.
Therese and Buddy retired to Humboldt in 1988 and enjoyed their new lifestyle in town, playing cards and visiting new and old friends. She had a deep and loving relationship with her faith. Family was always her number one focus, especially watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing around her.
Therese will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her four children, nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren:
