MCMORRIS

John Roderick Doyle McMorris, born April 13th, 1951, sadly passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, after having lived with cancer for 15 years.  John was one of a kind and during his 73 years, he lived a full life, and he lived it his way.

John grew up on the family farm six miles north of Lewvan, SK.  He became an avid sports enthusiast, both in participating and observing.  If you asked him what he did for a living he would say he was a farmer, which he was, but he also wore a few different hats.  John managed several grain elevators in Saskatchewan, then moved on to designing and installing grain dryers in Saskatchewan, Mexico, and Ukraine for Grainhandler USA.  He then began helping design, build, and commission concrete grain terminals in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Kazakhstan for F.W.S Construction.

He was predeceased by his father, Gordon; mother, Thelma; sister, Lorna; and brother-in-law, Laurie; as well as Eleanor, the mother of his children.  John is survived by his sister, Joanne (Allan); brother, Don (Cindy); daughter, Noelle; son, Doyle (Connie); stepsons: Todd (Ann) Walz, Ryan (Amanda) Walz, and Jason (Alana) Walz; grandchildren: Bhody (Marissa), Trehvan, Rhyker, Haley (Justin), Bria, Nico, Jude, Gracie, and Xavier; great-grandchildren, Graham and Ledger; and by Lee, his wife of 20 years, his best friend, and the love of his life.

Even in the end, John did it his way and we would like to thank the MAID program for the care and support they provided to him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in John’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
