Dianne Lenton (nee Moggey)
We regret to announce the passing of our beautiful mother Dianne Lenton on Friday, May 24, 2024 at the age of 80 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Jo-Anne Olson of Portage la Prairie and Beverly (Fred) St. Goddard of Calgary; grandson Andre St. Goddard; sisters-in-law Elaine Moggey, Donna Moore and Pat (Dennis) Pearce; along with several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her husband Roy Lenton; parents Cliff and Ethel Moggey; brothers Earl Moggey and Craig Moggey; parents-in-law Wally and Margaret Lenton; son-in-law Dean Olson; brother-in-law Wayne Moore; sister-in-law Hazel Moggey and niece Angela Moggey.
Mom was born in Portage la Prairie, MB, to Cliff & Ethel Moggey. Mom was the youngest, she had two older brothers Earl & Craig. She grew up on the family farm and attended Dale School and then Portage Collegiate Institute. Mom met Roy Lenton and they were married November 3, 1962. A few years later they had their first daughter Jo-Anne in 1965 and then Beverly in 1969. In 1974 they moved to their forever home in NW Portage. Here they made lifelong friends with neighbours and celebrated many occasions together whether it was Grey Cup Parties, Birthdays or just have a “few” drinks on a Friday or Saturday night.
Mom was an original member of the Vintage Cruisers Car Club. The car club members were another extremely fun, social group of people. They were like family!! We attended Rod Runs, Car Shows, Show & Shines in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the USA. Mom was proud to be a part of such a tight knit group of people who she called friends.
Mom worked part-time and was employed at Woolworth’s, Macleods and Canadian Tire. She retired in 2008.
Mom and Dad made two special trips with their close friends. They went to Waikiki, Hawaii and Yuma, AZ and seeing the Grand Canyon was a huge highlight for Mom. These were very special trips and we are so happy they took that adventure together. Mom loved camping, going on bus trips to Shooting Star, drives to Delta & the Diversion to watch the pelicans. She made many shopping trips to Winnipeg and Grand Forks for Retail Therapy.
Mom enjoyed gardening in the summer and looking after her plants inside the house (especially the one’s Andre gave to Grandma). Mom liked to do puzzles in the winter, she was always great at sorting the colors! Mom was always artsy....whether doodling on paper, painting, ceramics, macrame and making Christmas decorations. Mom loved Christmas, her house was always decorated weeks in advance, and she just loved it with all her heart.
Mom was a current member of the Terrier’s Ladies Auxiliary and Season Ticket holder.
Mom had one Grandson Andre and she loved him dearly. She loved attending his hockey & baseballs games. Grandma was the best at setting up Easter hunts for Andre and they loved making Marshmallow balls and Candy Cane cookies at Christmas to give to family and friends. Andre and Mom would always stop for ice cream at Ko’s in Headingley. They attended the Austin Thresherman’s Reunion. They were always doing something fun!!
Mom loved listening to CFRY in the mornings and watching her show The Young & The Restless, Survivor, Amazing Race and Hockey.
We were fortunate to have Mom join us on trips to Hawaii (Kona), Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, Mexico (Bucerias, Huatulco, Tulum & Playa Del Carmen), Dominican Republic, Grand Cayman Island, & Costa Rica. She loved each of these trips and we were so happy we could enjoy them with her. Mom also traveled to Wakaw & Saskatoon SK, Cranbrook BC, Calgary AB and Minnedosa MB to visit family.
Mom was someone who would never miss an event, showers, weddings, anniversaries, graduations or the opportunity to cheer someone up. She had her tickle truck of treasures on hand and was always giving for these occasions.
Mom will also be missed by her fur baby, Daisy. She is the perfect cat for Mom and they were so cute together.
Mom we will miss you, your beautiful blue eyes, big smile and loving ways. We will love you forever and always. See you again!
