The Northern Lights Movement for Kids 111 km Challenge is back for another year.
During June, participants are encouraged to move by land or water, such as walking, running, biking, canoeing, kayaking, or swimming, to accumulate 111 km within 30 days.
You can participate as an individual, as part of a group, or by donating.
Beginning as a local initiative, the 111 km challenge has blossomed and has seen people from all over the globe take part.
Northern Lights Movement for Kids was founded by Celeste Leray-Leicht in honour of her son, Jacob, who tragically passed away in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, to facilitate connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.
Jacob’s jersey number 11 serves as the inspiration for the 111 km distance in the challenge.
In its first years as an organization, Northern Lights Movement for Kids has constructed a relationship between communities to promote understanding, learning, and shared experience in the spirit of reconciliation.
