Levi Heinrichs passed away peacefully at the Special Care Home in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan., on May 28, 2024, at the age of 97 years. Levi was born on April 7, 1927, on the family farm NW-22-14-06 W3 Shamrock, Saskatchewan. He was the eighth of ten children born to Peter and Susanna Heinrichs. He attended Bolingbroke School, walking two and a half miles each day with his siblings and neighbourhood friends, braving the elements with a resilience that marked his entire life.

Levi completed his grade nine and ten education by correspondence while assisting on the family farm. His adventurous spirit led him to travel across Canada, working various jobs from harvesting in Ontario to logging and milking cows in British Columbia. In 1951, Levi started farming on his own, initially renting his father's land before purchasing it.

In the fall of 1953, Levi bought his first new car, a Belaire Chev, and that December, he visited his father in British Columbia. On November 19, 1954, Levi married the love of his life, Edna Arnold, in the United Church in Shamrock. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication to their family and community.

Levi and Edna moved into their first home that he built in Shamrock, where they welcomed their four children: Raymond, Brian, Chrisinda, and Stewart. In October of 1972, the family moved to the house that Levi built on the family farm. Levi loved the land and his livestock. He was a jack of all trades, and one might say he truly was an unpapered carpenter. He served his community through various roles, including being a Pool committee member for over 30 years, a Credit Union director for 28 years, and serving on the Co-op board, town council, and school board.

Levi's dedication to his community extended beyond his professional commitments. He was an integral part of getting the rink built, served on the rink board and was the caretaker for a time. Levi was an avid sportsman, playing baseball well into the late 1960s and coaching numerous hockey teams. He also enjoyed curling, horseshoes and board games. His passion for his community and the land was matched only by his love for his family, and his unwavering commitment to providing for them.

In 2020, due to declining health, Levi and Edna moved to the Chez Nous Care Home in Moose Jaw.. Here he found a new zest for life making many new friends with the staff and residents. Sadly, Edna passed away on December 3, 2022. Despite his broken heart Levi persevered with the love and support of his cherished family.

Levi will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and a stalwart member of his community. His legacy of hard work, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
