With the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF) beginning a work-to-rule on Monday, June 10, the Horizon School Division is asking for the community for volunteers to support with noon hour supervision.
Recently, out-of-scope division staff, parent volunteers, and community volunteers have been providing noon-period supervision in several schools. While this method has temporarily allowed the school division to meet the demands of the students, the needs have now outweighed their current resources to provide supervision.
The school division is reaching out to the community for support. They are requesting the assistance of parent/caregivers, community volunteers to support noon-period supervision in the schools. Supervision is required to ensure a safe environment during lunchtime.
Volunteers will be reimbursed for their Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check fees and offer a $20 honorarium per noon period.
Anyone interested in helping out, is asked to fill out a volunteer form, which can be found here: https://permission.click/0KDqb/ca/signee-info
Responses are needed immediately, if volunteer supervision is unavailable, alternative arrangements will be considered for affected schools.
The school division will continue to provide ongoing updates through email, text, horizonsd.ca/STFjobaction/ and social media.
