Wilf Markkula 85 years old passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 with family by his side. Wilfred “Wilf” Markkula was born on September 17, 1938 in Birsay SK, to Victor & Elsie Markkula. He grew up on a farm in Macrorie District and farmed untill 1964. Wilf was also a grain buyer, a hotel owner, and a salesman with CKSW Radio for 20 years. Wilf was a talented musician, and with his wife, Gloria, they enjoyed 43 years of entertaining and sharing their love of music with family and friends. He also loved to travel and together Wilf & Gloria spent many winters in Arizona and Vancouver Island, and the last few summers at Lake Pellitier enjoying golf and music. Wilf was fun-loving and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Everyone was always welcome, and the coffee was always on. Wilf will be sadly missed.
Wilf leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Gloria Keller; his son, Ken Markkula; his step-son, Troy Keller; his grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Slinkard, James (Chantelle) Slinkard, Elissa Miller, Jolene Fluker, William Fluker, River Keller, and London Keller; his 9 great-grandchildren; his son-in-law, Darren Brown; his brother, Darren (Leah) Tangen; his sister-in-law, Patti (Doug) Kew; his nieces and nephews, Lynne Deptuck, Sheila Griffith, Leesa Poffenroth, Leon Griffith, Braden Tangen, Taylor Tangen; and by extended family members. He was predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Vickie Brown; his parents, Victor & Elsie Markkula; his sister, Irene Parr; his grandson, Scott Slinkard; and by his father & mother-in-law, Harold & Sybil Tangen.
