With summer in full swing, people will be looking to keep cool with plenty of water - but here in Estevan there have apparently been complaints about the smell of that.

To assuage concerns, the city sent out a press release regarding the issue.

"Please be advised that the City of Estevan is aware of an increased concern in recent odorous water in the community. The odour is a result of naturally occurring seasonal operations and does not reflect a need for concern."

"The City would like to assure the community that it has done increased testing with no issues throughout, resulting in exceedingly safe results. The odour that is present should subside in the coming week."

The most recent wastewater report presented to the city council for May 2024 showed that Estevan had no plant upsets and all regulated parameters for drinking water were met.
