The Midale Oilmen’s Association is gearing up for their 32nd Annual Golf Tournament at Mainprize Park, set to take place on July 19.
“We’ve had a good turnout in the past, and we’re hoping to fill all 144 slots for golfers this year,” said Russ Scharnatta with the Midale Oilmen’s Association. “It’s a two-man best ball tournament with a horse race at the end of the day for the top five teams. We have supper following the horse race final, and it’s all on one day, Friday. So you still have your weekend to do whatever needs to be done.”
The buy-in for the event is $160 per person, with proceeds benefiting various community organizations.
“We’re a non-profit, but we raise money to support organizations throughout our community and surrounding areas,” Scharnatta explained.
The Oilmen’s Association contributes to a variety of causes, including school scholarships for graduating high school students who meet their criteria. They also support the Midale Play School, Mainprize Regional Park, and other local initiatives. Last year the golf tournament event brought in around $10,000.
Scharnatta added that volunteers are needed for the upcoming event. “If there are organizations that would like to help us, we might be able to provide them a donation for their cause as well.
