The U13 Estevan Elite Softball Team is set to host the U13 Provincial B Championship tournament at Pleasantdale Softball Diamonds starting tomorrow, and the excitement is growing in the southeast.

"The U13B Provincial Tournament is being hosted in Estevan this weekend. There's 21 teams coming from all over the province, from as far South as you get, to Lloydminster is the farthest north that we get and we are just so excited for what's going to come this," expressed Estevan Minor Softball board member Rebecca Foord.

Even before the gates open, the community has come out to support the event. Foord noted that 120 volunteer positions have been filled, but more are needed for the entire weekend. "We probably need about 80 more. Our most important job we need right now is scorekeepers. It's really important that we have some external scorekeepers, so each team isn't taking care of their own score. We also need people to help out at the gate and at the concession. The gate and the concession are our main sources of money and the way we we actually fundraise for minor softballs. So it's really important to have those, those people helping."

Anyone wanting to donate their time at the event can simply signup with the Facebook post below or by contacting Rebecca through the Estevan Minor Softball organization.

The U13B Provincial Softball Tournament will be taking place in Estevan from July 12-14. Games are set to start at 8:00 am tomorrow, with the opening ceremonies slated for 6:00 pm. Entrance fees are $5 for a day or $10 for the whole weekend.
